AI Data Automation with Make + Google Sheets
Connect Make (formerly Integromat) to Google Sheets to auto-populate data, run AI enrichment, sync reports, track inventory, and build powerful data automation workflows — no code required.
What this integration enables
Six things you can automate with Make + Google Sheets
Auto-populate from forms or CRM
Form submissions (Typeform, Google Forms, website) and CRM events (new contact, deal closed) automatically add rows to your Google Sheets — keeping your data fresh without manual entry.
AI-enhanced data enrichment
Pass each row through Make's OpenAI module: generate summaries, classify entries, score leads, or enrich company data. Write AI results back to a new column in the same sheet automatically.
Automated reporting dashboards
Pull metrics from Stripe, HubSpot, or your ad platforms on a schedule. Format and aggregate the data in Make, then update a Google Sheet dashboard that always shows current numbers.
Inventory sync from ecommerce
WooCommerce or Shopify product/inventory changes trigger Make to update your master Google Sheets inventory tracker — giving your ops team a real-time view without logging into the ecommerce platform.
Financial data aggregation
Pull bank transactions, Stripe revenue, and expense data from multiple sources. Make consolidates and formats it into a single Google Sheet for reconciliation and financial overview.
Lead scoring via AI → Sheets
New leads enter Make from any source. The OpenAI module scores them against your ICP criteria. The score, reasoning, and recommended next action are written to a Google Sheet for sales review.
Step-by-step setup
Setting Up Make + Google Sheets
1
Create a Make scenario and add the Google Sheets module
Log into Make.com and click Create a new scenario. Search for Google Sheets and add it as your first module. Click Add next to the connection, sign in with your Google account, and grant Make permission to access your Sheets. Select your spreadsheet and worksheet.
Make → New Scenario → Google Sheets → Authenticate → Select spreadsheet
2
Choose your trigger
Select Watch Rows to trigger when new rows are added or updated in Sheets. Alternatively, use another app as the trigger — a Typeform submission, a HubSpot deal update, a webhook from your website, or a scheduled interval. Make's visual canvas lets you set the trigger at the start of any scenario.
3
Add an OpenAI module for AI processing (optional)
Between your trigger and the Sheets write module, add Make's OpenAI (ChatGPT, Whisper, DALL-E) module. Select Create a Completion, choose your model (gpt-4o), and write a prompt that references fields from the trigger — e.g. the company name, feedback text, or product data. The AI output becomes a variable for the next step.
4
Write results back to Sheets and activate the scenario
Add a Google Sheets → Add a Row or Update a Row module. Map fields from upstream modules (the AI output, form data, CRM fields) to the correct sheet columns. Click Run once to test with live data, verify the sheet updates correctly, then set the run schedule (every 15 min, hourly, daily) and Activate the scenario.
What we build with this integration
Real workflows Xelionlabs has delivered
Workflow 01
AI Lead Enrichment Pipeline
New CRM contacts trigger Make. Each contact's company name and role are passed to GPT-4o with a scoring rubric. The AI returns an ICP score (0–100), a one-line justification, and a recommended sequence. All three are written to the master leads Google Sheet within seconds of the contact entering the CRM.
Workflow 02
Weekly Revenue Dashboard
Every Monday at 7 AM, Make fetches the past week's data from Stripe (revenue, churn, refunds), Google Ads (spend, conversions), and HubSpot (new deals, pipeline value). It formats and aggregates the numbers, then overwrites the "This Week" rows in a Google Sheet — giving leadership a live KPI view every Monday morning.
Workflow 03
Customer Feedback Sentiment Tracker
New Intercom conversations marked "closed" trigger Make. GPT-4o reads the conversation transcript, scores sentiment (1–5), and extracts the main topic (billing, feature request, bug). Results are written to a Sheets dashboard with a chart that visualizes sentiment trends over time — no manual tagging needed.
FAQ
Make + Google Sheets — Common Questions
Can Make automatically update Google Sheets?
Yes. Make has a native Google Sheets integration that can add new rows, update existing rows (by row number or a search value), search for rows matching a filter, clear rows, and delete rows — all triggered by any event in a Make scenario, such as a form submission, webhook, CRM update, or scheduled interval.
How do I connect Make to Google Sheets?
In Make, add a Google Sheets module to your scenario and click 'Add' next to the connection field. You'll be prompted to sign in with your Google account and grant Make read/write access to your Sheets. Once connected, Make shows your available spreadsheets and sheets for selection. The connection is saved and reusable across all scenarios.
Can Make add AI to my Google Sheets workflow?
Yes. Make has a native OpenAI module. You can pass data from a Google Sheet row (or any trigger) through the OpenAI module (GPT-4o) for enrichment, classification, summarization, or generation — then write the AI output back to the sheet using the Google Sheets 'Update a Row' module. This creates a fully automated AI-enhanced data pipeline, no code required.
Is Make or Zapier better for Google Sheets automation?
Make generally offers more flexibility than Zapier for complex data transformations — particularly its visual data mapping, array handling with iterators and aggregators, and multi-route scenarios. Zapier is simpler for basic single-step tasks. For high-volume or complex AI-enhanced pipelines, n8n offers the most power and lowest cost at scale, with self-hosting options that eliminate per-task pricing entirely.
